Getting Quilting Inspiration from Quilt Shows

What Inspires You?

Each year quilters all across planet Earth come together to show-off their creations to the rest of the world through Quilt Shows. I really enjoy getting quilting inspiration from these events by either attending in-person or engaging with organizers through their online channels.  Even though I've been setting up my Atelier (Studio) and have many projects to sew, I still can't help but check-out the latest Quilting News. This past month I've been seeing trending results from many shows that have already happened as well as announcements for many that will be coming for the rest of 2024. Here's a few that I can't wait to see! I know, its February my calendar should already be planned and set, right? 

One of the biggest Quilt Shows in the United States is QuiltCon. It is presented by the Modern Quilt Guild and was held in Raleigh SC this year.  I've been admiring the photos on Social Media being uploaded by favorite designers like Karen Kay Buckley and Anna Maria Horner,  There are also so many wonderful images of stunning quilts to see being shared from other outlets like the Quilter on Fire: Brandy Maslowski and of course media from the Modern Quilt Guild itself. Did you know you can join the Modern Quilt Guild online? you can find more information here They also have an option to "Connect with others in the quilting community through local MQG-affiliated guilds or the Individual Members Coalition (IMC) Modern Quilt Guild near you."

QuiltCon 2025 will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ 

February 20-23, 2025.

Another big show in the US is Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show happening July 13-14. 2024 in Sisters Oregon. Founded in 1975 and known as "The World's Largest Outdoor Quilt Show" this event presents over 1800 exhibits from US and International quilters as well as provide classes from Master Quilt Makers!  

Guest designer Giuseppe Ribaudo, better known as Giucy Giuce will be there this year too! I really like his designs and fabrics! Click Here for  Show Tickets:    

Another huge Quilt Show in the US  is International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. Presented by Quilts Inc. this event also started up in 1975 and has had participants from over 25 countries worldwide. They also organize a huge retailers event each year called Quilt Market. The 2024 Show will be held October 31 - November 3, 2024 I've been to Houston many times but never to a quilting related event. This is a must-see on my list!

The American Quilters Society located in Paducah Kentucky, will also be hosting several AQS Quilt Shows in 2024. If you're looking to do a bit of traveling this year they are offering shows in cities like Branson Missouri and Grand Rapids Michigan. For a complete listing of AQS QuiltWeek Shows click here
